Forestry Roads & Quarrying

Construction & maintenance of forestry roads and bridges
JTC has over 20 years experience in the construction, engineering and maintenance of forest roads and bridges. One of our main clients in this field is Forest Enterprise Scotland, for which we have delivered miles of excellent quality forest roads. JTC has a dedicated team of plant operators and drivers who deliver this work across the island, using JTC's own fleet of excavators, trucks and rollers.

JTC was awarded a multi-year contract to maintain the forest road network and provide rock crushing and screening work within the Forest Enterprise Quarries.
A number of our team members also hold an SVQ Level 3 Geotechnical Knowledge for Quarry Supervision.

Lochranza Distillery

Construction of the Isle of Arran Distillery and Visitor Centre

JTC constructed the Isle of Arran Distillery Visitor Centre in Lochranza 1999. We were also subsequently involved in the construction of Warehouse No's 1, 2 & 3 on the site, which were completed in 2008.

The distillery and its visitor centre remain one of the most popular tourist attractions on the island.

brodick promenade

Brodick Seafront

Construction of sea wall and promenade at Brodick Pier
The construction of the new sea wall at Brodick Pier was a difficult process which was greatly dictated by the tides and the weather. Concrete containing special waterproof additives was used, and this enabled us to create the sea wall in position.
The new promenade followed, and the car parking bays were realigned to allow better access for drivers. On the new grass borders, the Brodick Improvement Committee arranged for the curved walls to be built, and for the flowers planted within. This promenade had long been campaigned for by the Brodick Improvement Committee and was instructed by North Ayrshire Council in 2009.

Farmhouse Refurbishment

Refurbishment of Catacol Farmhouse
The refurbishment and modernisation of Catacol Farmhouse was completed by JTC in 2004. In 2009, the owners took the decision to refurbish the Farmhouse Bothy which we also undertook, and completed at the beginning of 2010.
Both projects were successfully completed on time and within budget.

Brodick Castle Visitor Centre

Construction of the Visitor Centre at Brodick Castle
The purpose built visitor centre at Brodick Castle was built in 1992 by JTC for the National Trust for Scotland. Over the years we have also constructed the sewage treatment works at the Castle, the car park and the Ranger Centre.

Glen Rosa Extension

Barn Conversion, Glen Rosa Brodick
This project involved the conversion of existing barns joined to the client's house, resulting in a significant extension to the existing property.
We worked alongside the client's chosen architect to deliver this seamless and picturesque extension to the client's expectation.

Lochranza Ferry Waiting Room

Refurbishment of dated facilities for CMAL
In 2017 we completed an extensive refurbishment of the waiting room and vessel store at Lochranza, Isle of Arran.
The works required stripping back the dated facility to its core and various structural alterations to allow the addition of full height windows, external canopy and an accessible facility.
We were also involved as a sub-contractor in the major redevelopment of Brodick Ferry Terminal which was completed in early 2018, primarily through the supply of more than 11,000 cubic metres of concrete and 35,000 tonnes of quarry materials.
